Use the brake instead of the
clutch to prevent rolling, when stopping on an uphill grade.
To prevent clutch material
from wearing away prematurely
Never rest your foot on the
clutch petal.
While driving
Release the clutch smoothly
and gradually when accelerating from a stop.
Transmission synchronizer
To give the transmission
synchronizer a chance to get into sync with each order, pause for a
fraction of second in neutral before switching gears.
Slipping the clutch
When the clutch pedal is
partially depressed the clutch plates are spinning at different rates
while in contact with each other. This is known as 'slipping the
clutch'. It is also what gradually wears out the clutch, requiring
replacement.
