Get a dishwasher with several
choices of washing cycles
When shopping for a dishwasher,
choose one that allows selecting different settings for all washing
needs. This will allow saving energy and water when dealing with lightly
soiled dishes.
The heat drying option saves
energy
Select a dishwasher that has a
heat drying as well as an air-drying option. Air-drying your dishes
takes a little longer but this process employs much less energy than the
water heater.
Use vinegar to protect the
dishwasher
To get rid of mineral
accumulation, and soap residue, and prevent rust in your dishwasher,
place one cup of distilled white vinegar in the lower dish rack, and one
cup in the upper rack. Then run a regular cycle.
To obtain the best results out
of a dishwasher, make sure there’s plenty of hot water for it to clean
properly. Water must be at least 130 degrees to get rid of grease and
tough stains.
