:: Basic tips ::

  Careful when using two monitors
    Avoid placing two CRT monitors too close to one another; CRT monitors produce magnetic fields which may cause damage to one or both displays; the damage done to a monitor because of magnetism, is usually represented as shimmering images.

  Keep the monitor's vents unobstructed

  Keep the monitor’s case clean and free of any objects that may cover the heat-release vents in the case.

  Use only the length of wire needed
    Whenever possible, keep wire connections as short as possible; the longer a signal travels, the more it gets exposed to interference.

  Avoid interference
    Avoid placing a monitor too close to power lines so as to allow the monitor’s cables to touch electrical wires; this causes interference in the signal transmission and it is seen onscreen as grainy images or images broken and wavy.

  Storing media correctly
  Store all media, particularly magnetic media away from electronics and unshielded items; the electronics heat can damage storage media and magnetism can spoil a diskette’s saved data.
