:: Basic tips  ::

  Careful when printing scanned images
    All scanners come with software to manipulate in certain way the scanned image; some software allows printing the same size that an image appears on the screen; but beware, the resolution doesn’t establish the printed image size.

  Increase contrast to enhance sharpness

  Increase the contrast in black and white scanned images, doing so frequently improves sharpness and detail on an image.

  Save scanned images in common formats
    When saving a newly scanned image, save it as GIF if the option is available; if not, save the images as TIFF, BMP or PCX formats; these are common saving formats and are compatible with different image editing software available in the market.

  Scan at higher resolution
    When a scanned image is to be paper-printed, scan it at least at 300 DPI; 600 DPI is better. If the image is going to be posted online, still scan the image at higher resolution, save it, and then, change the image to lower resolution.

  Use the scaling tool for printing
  A very important tool for printing after an image has been scanned is ‘Scaling’; it can be done during or after the scanning process.
