:: General tips ::

  Complete a Home-Theater by adding a subwoofer
    All Home-Theater systems must have a subwoofer in order to let each speaker do its job properly. Low-frequency sounds put too much stress on regular speakers and this shortens the speakers life as well.

  Each speaker does a particular function

  The left and right loudspeakers carry the majority of the film’s musical score and many of the sound effects; the center-speaker makes sure onscreen sounds such as voices come from the screen.

  Match the receiver's power to the speakers handling
    When choosing speakers, match their impedance to the power amplifier or receiver; plugging speakers that can handle little power to a powerful receiver will only damage the speakers when too much volume is applied to them.
    :: Shopping tips  ::

  Save the packaging in case of returns
    When shopping for new loudspeakers, hold on to the original packaging at least for the first week or so. Do this in case that the speakers do not perform in a satisfactory manner and they have to be returned to the electronics shop.

  Read reviews when comparing speakers
  The best place to start shopping for loudspeakers is reading the pages of reputable audio magazines. This is where reviews performed on speakers by professionals come in handy. Use their comparisons only as a reference point.
