The range of frequencies
between the lowest and highest points used for a system or circuit to
operate and stay in range. It can also be the capacity of data
transferred from a digital communications system. A way of measuring
spectrum frequency usability.
Boot
The act of resetting or
starting a computer terminal; there are cold-boots, which is when a
computer is turned after being off for a while; there are as well the
warm-boots, which is when a terminal is reset or restarted, but the
loading software still goes thru its entire reloading process depending
on the operating system.
Bps (Bits per second)
The amount of bits transmitted
per second, it is used measure the speed of online data transferring;
modems data transferring can be measured in Bps.
Brightness
When applied to video, it means the general light intensity required
for the picture’s balance. The brightness control manages the image
quality, and combined with contrast effects, both controls help
define the image making it more realistic.
Broadband
A term utilized when describing
wide-bandwidth equipment or gear which occupy large amounts of the
electromagnetic spectrum. Broadband communications systems contain all
broadcasting along with other attachments.
Broadcasting
To transmit
electromagnetic signals in all directions as in spreading the signal
allover the area; the act of transmitting to more than one place. On
networks, it can be a message transmitted to all stations connected to
the network.
