One of the major roles of
footwear is to protect your toddler's feet. Insist that they be worn
when it is cold or the ground is treacherous especially in places that
have thorns, gravel, broken glass, or other potential hazards.
GET EXTRA PAIR OF SHOES
If your child is particularly
attached to a certain pair of shoes, or simply insists on wearing
sneakers in general, consider getting more than one pair. In the event
of a misplaced shoe or an irresistible mud puddle, your toddler won't be
left temporarily shoeless.
SOFT SOLED SHOES
If not barefoot, soft-soled
shoes are the next best thing for allowing your toddler's feet to grip
the floor as he masters balance and coordination.
::Important Tips ::
AVOID BUY A LARGER SIZE
Don’t buy a larger size with
the idea that your child will grow into it. Babies just learning to walk
are wiggly and wobbly; shoes that are too large will complicate matters
and may even hamper their walking.
WAIT FOR THE RIGHT TIME
Many parents fit their babies
for shoes too soon. A good rule of thumb: Don't buy baby shoes until
your child is ready to toddle outdoors. Until then, let her crawl or
walk around the house in her bare feet or a cozy pair of socks. This
will help strengthen her foot muscles and teach her to walk on different
surfaces.
