When starting to train, only the basic exercises should be done. For the back muscles, develop your foundation with wide grip chins or pull downs and a rowing movement. For the trapeziums, not crucial when starting, you will need shrugging exercises.

With all exercises your back should be contracted especially the lower back. It’s crucial to learn right from the start the correct form.

Maintain a good form when doing lateral pull downs. Your back should be straight with tight abs.

A finished set
When you are done with the set, stand up, and gently lower the weight onto the stack. Don’t let the weight just crash back down.

Don’t raise your body off the seat while lifting the bar to the first position. Don’t lean far back, swing back and forth or arch your back.
