   Inflammation
     Part of the healing process, inflammation process occurs as a response to injury or destruction of tissues. Signs include pain, warmth, redness, swelling and loss of function. Excess inflammation may require treatment.

   Insertion

 

   Occurring at the end of the muscle and furthest from the body, insertion is the place where the muscle is attached to the bone and is responsible for moving it.

     A type of muscular contraction, in which maximal tension is developed over a short range of motion, while shortening at constant speed.

 Isolation
     To maximize muscle shape, isolation is a technique that focuses working individual muscles, without involving secondary or assisting muscle groups.

   Isometrics
     To increase the tone of muscle fibers, isometrics is a system of exercises, in which opposing muscles are so contracted, that there is little shortening.

   Insulin
 Insulin is a hormone responsible for reducing blood sugar to its normal level, through its mediating affect on the uptake of sugar into various body tissues, to include muscle and fat. It is released during high blood sugar levels, or at the onset of exercise.
