Body language could be a right tool to use when approaching a stranger
to ask something. Do so with a smile, keep you hands in sight and use
kind words.

Drawing or writing is very useful when communicating with someone who
does not speak your same language. You might want to have some pen and
paper in your bag, in case you need to draw a picture of a place you
want to get to.

directions. It can help you overcome difficulties with pronunciation.

When something mayor happens to you abroad, try to fall back at your
embassy or consulate. The staff at the Citizen Service Section may give
you useful information on a person to person basis and help you with any
particular matter.

Since English has become an international language; students around the
world are learning it at school, from a very young age. So look for
young people whenever you need directions or orientation.
