If you choose to cancel a
reservation on the Sleeping car 24 hours before its departure, you’ll
get a complete reimbursement. However, if you notify them less than 24
hours before, you’ll get a full-value credit for the next time you
travel.
SHOW ID
If you purchased tickets at an
Amtrak station you can generally exchange it or get a refund if you can
present proper identification. That’s typically true even if you bought
tickets with a credit card.

Generally, short-distance
trains aren’t reserved. You have to get yourself to the station and
purchase a ticket. Then you can ride the train. The only exception is
that of the fast Acela Express and the Metro Liner trains. They offer
First class/Club and Business class service and so you need to book a
seat.

DEPARTURE TIME
Every European railway stations
has it‘s arrival and departure time posted. These timetables can be
recognized by the color of their background. As a rule departure
timetables are printed on a yellow background, arrivals timetables have
a white background.
USEFUL ADVICE
Most of the train terminals in
Europe have digital displays and the information posted on these
displays takes precedence over printed schedules.
