:: Planning tips ::

  MAKE UP YOUR MIND
    You can upgrade your seat to Sleeping car or Business class by asking your conductor or Chief of On Board Services. You will then have to pay for the difference.

  BEFORE ARRIVING

  In larger train stations, you can check in your bags. Make sure to get there at least 40 minutes before departure and check in your bags. Upon arrival, you have to collect them back. This usually doesn’t take long, but in larger cities it could take up to half an hour. Remember, whatever you check in, you can’t get to during the ride.

  NON-SMOKING RIDE
    You’re not allowed to smoke on short trips on the train. Longer distances have smoking sections. Those who don’t offer this service, have announcements where people can smoke on the platform while they’re at a stop.
    ::While riding ::

  WHEN RIDING AMTRACK
    If you feel that the train is running late, and you’re going to miss your connecting train, talk to the conductor chief of on board services. He will try to get in touch with the other train, so it could be held for you. However, if you do miss your ride, Amtrak will offer alternative transportation, or will give you food and a place to stay until the next train arrives.

  ENTERTAINMENT ON RAILS
  Lounge cars are open to everyone, and the seats are not reserved. Current movies are shown in most long-distance trains in the evening.
