:: Money ::

   The right currency
     All charges on the ship are handled like if you were at home. Before getting to foreign ports, your purser sets up a currency desk and changes American dollars into local funds. If you end up not using all the money, the purser will exchange when you come back.

   Not always fare

   When you exchange money, it’s probable that you won’t get the best rate for it. But, it’s worth it because of the convenience.

   Tipping rules
     Generally, passengers tip cabin and dining stewards on their last night of the cruise. In Europe and the US, tipping is more common than in Australia, but it’s never obligated. Some cruise lines already include the tip in their prices.

   Avoid problems
     By taking local currency issued you are reducing the risk of having currency conversion problems. You can then use your traveler checks directly for making purchases at shops, hotels, petrol stations, restaurants etc.

   Safe places
   When you do not have the local currency, cash your checks where they offer the best rate and least charges - usually the bank - remember ask up front if they apply any fees.
