In major cities, most stores
are open from 10h to 19h Monday through Saturday. In the provinces
stores are usually closed on Mondays and from noon to 14h or 13h to 15h
daily. Some department stores remain open until 21h one evening each
week.
MULTIPLE FUNCTIONS
The French post office, La
Poste, does much more than deliver mail. Don’t be surprised if the line
takes longer than you're used to.
ALMOST 24 HOURS
Hypermarkets can remain open
until 21h or 22h. Many food shops are open at 08h, even on Sundays. On
holidays most businesses in Paris and the provinces are closed.

NO COINS NEEDED
You will need a phone card to
use public phones in France. There maybe still a few phones that operate
with coins.
WHERE ARE YOU CALLING?
If you need to make calls
within France, buy the Telecarte card. If you need to make international
calls and local ones, buy the Telecarte Internationale for best rates.
